Glorious Golden Rose Earrings

These beautiful rose earrings are by KIGU of England. Kigu are better known for being makers of compacts which was their main business. They also produced enamelled pill boxes, folding mirrors, combs, clocks and other handbag type accessories.

These lovely earrings have a gold tone setting, clip on backing and beautiful leaves with a marcasite effect. The roses are a delightful lemon colour.

The first powder compact was created by Josef Kiaschek in Hungary. One of his sons, George emigrated to London in 1939 and founded Kigu of London. The war stopped production as the factory had to be used for other contributions towards the war effort. The business remained in the family until the early 1980's when the company was sold to another compact firm called A S Brown who produced the range of Mascot compacts. Later Laughton & Sons took both the Kigu and Mascot brands and amalgamated it with their own famous brand Stratton.

Condition Good - Small flea bites in the roses and a little wear on the gilding but a beautiful pair of earrings nonetheless.
